Psychotherapy Integration: Developing a Practice Framework

Psychotherapy Integration: Developing a Practice Framework

Overview

Counselling and psychotherapy are fundamentally about the process of human change. In recent years, research has provided a clearer understanding of key change principles. Establishing a trusting relationship, identifying a clearer sense of self direction, increased insight and awareness, and reality testing are some of these important keys. Most therapists integrate a breadth of theory in their practice but often without a clear raison d’etre. The challenge is how to draw on different theories while still having a clear sense of direction. This is where a practice framework is very helpful. A practice framework is a guide that provides a level of direction which is theoretically robust, but without being too prescriptive. In this seminar we will explore how to develop your own practice framework within the context of integration and key change principles.
